US Clock Cancel

I can't say much about these postmarks (yet). They are arrival postmarks from the delivery post office for, in any case "Special Delivery", but probably also for "Registered". I have not yet found such letters.

There are also these postmarks as arrival postmarks from hotels and large companies.

I just find these postmarks unusual and "pretty". Therefore I have begun to collect these. Here comes now a selection.


Commercial cover with "Special Delivery". Postmarked Nov. 27, 1894 at New Orleans, LA. Addressed to Washington, D.C.
Reverse: Arrival postmark as "Clock Cancel" from Washington dated 29. Nov. 1894. Also two RPO postmarks.
Commercial cover with "Special Delivery". Postmarked 08. May 1907 at Walnut, Iowa. Addressed to Toledo, Ohio.
Reverse: Arrival postmark as "Clock Cancel" from Toledo dated 09. May 1907. Also two RPO postmarks.
Commercial cover with "Special Delivery". Postmarked Oct. 25, 1937 at San Dimas, Calif. Addressed to Little Rock, Arkansas.
Reverse: arrival postmark as "Clock Cancel" from Little Rock dated Oct. 26, 1937. Also an RPO postmark.
Commercial cover with "Special Delivery". Postmarked May 27, 1918 at Baltimore, Station B?. Addressed to Toledo, Ohio.
Reverse: Arrival postmark as "Clock Cancel" from Toledo dated 28. May 1918. Also a "Baltimore Transit" postmark.
Commercial cover with "Special Delivery". Postmarked 27. Sept. 1927 in the railroad mail car of the line "Pittsburgh & St. Louis", train 20. Addressed to Buffalo, New York.
Reverse: arrival cancel as "Clock Cancel" from Buffalo dated 28.09.1927. Also an arrival cancel of the "Hotel Broezel".
Commercial cover with "Special Delivery". Postmarked 26. Aug. 1968 in Washington, D.C. Addressed to Rockville, Maryland.
Reverse: arrival postmark as "Clock Cancel" from Rockville dated Aug. 26, 1968.
